Ridge Route Communities Museum and Historical Society collects and preserves the history of the mountain area north of Castaic/Santa Clarita and south of Bakersfield along the historic Ridge Route. Files and artifacts represent the coummunities and the roadways through the mountains from the Indian trails to Interstate 5.
The museum's information begins with the Native American people of the area, the mission influence and the local reservation where the people lived. It continues with the early explorers, Fort Tejon, the great earthquake that centered here in 1857, the miners who searched for fortunes, and the homesteaders who settled in the area after the fort closed. Our interest of the area continues up to the present.
Hours: Friday, Saturday and Sunday Noon - 4 p.m. (see the map below)
