Almost 65 people crowded the Frazier Park Community Center Tuesday night for the regular monthly Board meeting of the Frazier Park Public Utility District, and to see a PowerPoint presentation on the pending $3.1 million USDA loan/grant program. That program's objective is to replace 3 water tanks and several adjacent lines, eliminate tank deterioration, corrosion and possible systemwide failure. It is Phase 2 of a long-term plan designed to upgrade Frazier Park's water delivery system infrastructure.
Photos of current system problems and details of the proposal were viewed by attendees.
A generally-receptive crowd offered comments and questions for about an hour to General Manager Greg Keenberg and the board about the proposal's elements, and the consequences of it not being approved, were that to occur.
The measure implementing the project will be approved or disapproved by a protest vote procedure, wherein protests to a $6.01 base rate increase must exceed 50% of the ratepayers, as we understand it.
All letters of support or protest must be received by FPPUD by October 31. A letter of explanation will be forthcoming in the immediate future to all ratepayers. Further discussion will occur at the next FPPUD board meeting on Tuesday, October 13 at 6 pm.
Local restaurants graciously contributed food to the event for attendees and FPPUD staff.
This was a well run program that exhibited the new professionalism of the FPPUD Board in addressing community water issues. We encourage your participation in this important process.
