Another Restaurant Closes

by Lloyd Wiens

There must be something in the air.  Yesterday, the writer and a distinguished local elderly gentleman meandered out to Lake of the Woods for lunch at one of our regular spots.

We walked up to the door, grabbed the doorknob and found it locked, along with a dark, empty interior.  Henry's is out of business, in spite of the advertising on the building.  A sign of the times.

Our last time there, the owner talked about the daily grind of over 20 years in business, lease issues, decline in customers, what could have been and a desire to spend more time with his family.  But, we didn't think it would happen this quickly; the date of closure is unknown.  We were unable to wish him well, so this is it.  Thanks, Henry, for being around for all these years to serve us lunch when we needed it and we wish you well.  Enjoy your time with your family.

Very well written and evocative. God Bless Henry and his family in whatever the future holds for them. Henry had the best chocolate malts anywhere!
