Tejon Mountain Village Approved Unanimously

by Brian Bierman

Tejon Mountain Village was approved by all of the Kern County Supervisors.  The board meeting began at 9:00 this morning and concluded at 4:43.

The majority of time was given to opponents of the development.  Arguments against were the familiar set ranging from water to condors, condors, condors to building in earthquake country to Native American artifacts, etc...  Many repeated points made by previous speakers and the board chairman tried to limit public comments to statements not yet made.  Many speakers were allowed to go over their allotted time.

Laer Pearce, representing Tejon Mountain Village, was pleased saying that the supervisors not only approved the project but praised it.  He was glad for the support.

The only recourse for project opponents at this point will be the courts.  Mr. Pearce said that Tejon Ranch has made every effort to go above and beyond to establish TMV.  The Center for Biological Diversity has a very high success rate in court but Pearce was confident Tejon would be able to strongly defend TMV and win.

It would seem (to us) that only those who have lived up here "on the hill" for just a few (perhaps 10 or less yrs.) or those who do NOT live up here on this hill (a few exceptions) would want this absurd project to go through. I suppose you all in wanting this project have not looked at the BIG PICTURE, all you have to do is view the tapes of the meethings and see the MISTAKES that the have been over looked by allowing this to happen to our area! All I can say is YOU ALL BOO BOOED, but the fight is not over! If you want such a "city like place" this close to us where we moved to for RURAL, then you should never have left you city! You who do not live up here have little concern to our living conditions and should not be in charge of our area.

Oppossumzoo, I have lived here for over 20 years. You refer to "allowing this to happen in our area." It is really not up to us, and that is the thing of which we hate to be reminded. As stated previously, I don't own the property. I didn't even have a vote on the CSA-100, much less this. What suggestions do you have to stop it? Divisive hysteria and assertions that are questionable, at best, not to mention unprovable, will not do anything but get together a group of people to congratulate themselves and each other on having the "right" opinion. That won't affect the Board of Supervisors one whit, but I guess it feels good at the time.
