From the Kern County Fire Department:
The Kern County Fire Department will be helping to feed the homeless on Thursday December 24th 2009 starting at 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., at the El Pueblo Restaurant 9705 Main Street, in Lamont.
KCFD has once again partnered with Luis Agular and his restaurant in Lamont to help the homeless. This will be the 18th consecutive year that homeless people from around Bakersfield have been bussed in to eat a hot meal and enjoy the Holiday season with volunteers from the Fire Department. Busses provided by KCFD and KCSO will transport people from the following: Bakersfield Homeless Shelter, Bakersfield Rescue Mission and Saint Vincent on Baker Street.
Toys, gifts and other supportive donations have been made by the following: Kern County Firefighters Local 1301 Union, Stain Howard Trucking, Sturgen & Son, Virginia Ford Trucking, H.A. Sala, WA Thompson, Bob & Laura Alterria, Sherrill Sandrini, Katies K-9, and Costco Foods.
This is another example of your Fire Department working with and giving back to the Community we serve. www.facebook.com/kerncountyfire & www.twitter.com/kerncountyfire
Editor's note: Many in the Mountain Communities appreciate the work of the Kern fire department. This latest effort reinforces what we already know about the character of the men and women that serve all of Kern County.
