Sergeant Mark Brown tells the Mountain Daily News that the suspect in the "Stolen Checkbook" case has been tried and found guilty. Tony Lopez is now in jail for the crimes of property theft, forgery and identity theft.

Stolen checkbook and forgery
On December 14, 2009, at about 10:40 AM, a deputy was dispatched to the Frazier Park Substation to investigate a theft that occurred on the 700 block of Glendale Trail. A woman said one book of her personal checks was stolen from her home, and 21 of the checks, totaling $11,900.00, were forged and cashed. An investigation identified Tony Lopez of Frazier Park as the suspect.

On December 16, 2009, at about 6:00 AM, deputies served a search warrant at a house on the 4300 block of Decator Trail, where Lopez was arrested for identity theft, elderly abuse, burglary and forgery.

On December 14, 2009, at about 4:40 PM, a deputy was dispatched to the 4100 block of Decator trail in Frazier Park to investigate a burglary. Unknown person(s) forced entry into a home and stole over six boxes of cigarettes and an unknown amount of power tools and hand tools. The deputy located one box of cigarettes and a power saw on the 4100 block of Mt. Pinos Way.
