It's called Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or VITA and it is sponsored by the IRS for Kern County residents; including Frazier Park.  VITA offers free federal and state tax preparation for those with an income of $50,000 or less and seniors.  The Mountain Daily News was told no one is turned away; even if their income is higher.  Preparation includes free e-File and free direct deposit.  They DO NOT do "Rapid Refunds".

Dave Thomas of Lebec said VITA got him the same refund that he would normally pay $250 to get from a professional preparer down shouth.

VITA is based in Bakersfield and has been for at least 10 years.  They hope to set up shop in Frazier Park next year.  To take advantage of their services, call 834-1724 to make an appointment.  They will tell what you need to bring.
