The rumor is a larger Frazier Park Estates development has already been approved. The actual vote is to take place May 11 but county supervisors have indicated they are in favor of a 557 home development (down from 668 homes) primarily to boost revenue and help our local economy. This is contrary to the county planning department recommendation of 188 homes.
Cornerstone Engineering, hired by Arciero to plan the project, has changed the original plans that would have required a substantial amount of grading. The new plan is much closer to meeting the hillside ordinance, although neighborhood layout will still more closely resemble suburban Castaic.
Derrill Whitten of Cornerstone Engineering has been working to convince local residents and business owners that there is enough water to supply the development. The project includes a water recycling facility to make water use more efficient. Many residents like Linda MacKay still have their doubts.
