Almost all the chairs set out on the floor of the community center were taken (25 - 30 chairs). Emotions were charged over the county approval of Frazier Park Estates. Most in attendance were fearful over the negative effect they believe the development will have on the water supply of Frazier Park and Lebec. Frustration was directed at Supervisor Ray Watson who was not in attendance.
Anita Anderson again said time was unequally split between opponents and proponents of the project during comments at the Supervisor's meeting last week. Why bring it up? While Watson did tell Anderson to be mindful of others and to limit her time, those in favor of the project didn't appear to get any more time than opponents. They in fact got less because of the higher number of attendees against.
Some said they wanted to incorporate as a city or township in order to limit county power. Others went from complaining about Frazier Park Estates to complaining about the roads in town. There were rumblings about a lawsuit and urging to add signers to the petition against; to which over 326 have put their names (click here to see/print it).
The topic of FPE could have dominated the meeting except it wasn't on the agenda. Once the topic changed, many left. The MAC went on to discuss the results of their survey. 70 people in the community participated and statistician Jan de Leeuw compiled and graphed the results. The three most important issues according to the results-so-far are 1)jobs, 2)fire safety and 3)snow plowing. Jan de Leeuw cautioned against putting any trust in such a small sample and said the structure of the survey basically rendered the results worthless even though the top three seemed to echo what many in the room intuitively believed to be important to most in the community. There was some discussion about revising and redistributing the survey.
