Streetscape Money Running Out

by Brian Bierman

According to Steve Newman, chairman of the Mountain Communities Municipal Advisory Council (MCMAC), maintenance costs for the newly installed lighting, trash cans and planters in Frazier Park are paid for out of Ray Watson's budget.  This is because the land owners affected by the project appear to have changed their minds after agreeing to fund the projects utilities and upkeep.

One possible justification for the change of heart seems to revolve around a difference between the end product and what was originally presented to property owners when they initially agreed to support the maintenance costs.  Because locals aren't funding this, Watson is only able to do so for a short time; until the end of the year.

MCMAC members are working to help our community explore some solutions.  Steve Newman said this will be an agenda item for the next meeting on October 19 and said Watson might be able to extend his funding of the project maintenance if there is a viable solution in the works.
